Manhatta
Manhatta: Terminal Warehouse NYC
Tessellate is excited to introduce Manhatta, a new generative art experience now live on the 40-foot digital display at Terminal Warehouse on Manhattan's West Side. Manhatta is a window into the past, presenting a living recreation of the original Manhattan landscape as it appeared in 1609. This immersive recreation of the original landscape features historically accurate native plants and animals. The digital forest and dynamic Hudson River scene are connected to the present moment, using real-time data to sync with New York City's actual weather, wind, and tidal changes. The artwork transitions through the day from sunrise to sunset and into a nighttime scene, and evolves with the seasons. To add a touch of life, native animals like deer, foxes, and ducks make an appearance at the top of every hour, offering a unique and ever-changing biophilic experience that connects the building to its natural and historical environment. This installation is more than a media wall; it is a dynamic connection to place, time, and nature, enhancing the wellness of all who experience it. We believe this is the future of placemaking.
